Thinking of a career at KPMG? How about a role in Technology Risk?

The emphasis on learning and development and the support from all the people you work with makes KPMG a fantastic place to start your career.

The Recruitment Process

The recruitment process at KPMG was certainly challenging. I felt that it was very successful in testing candidates in areas that they’d actually encounter at work. For me the amount of time and resourcing they spend on their recruitment process is a good reflection of how important their people are to KPMG.

Why KPMG

I initially chose KPMG because of the opportunities to work with talented individuals who are experts in their field. But after joining, I found that my favourite thing is the culture. The emphasis on learning and development and the support from all the people you work with makes KPMG a fantastic place to start your career.

Qualifications and Support

I’m currently studying toward the ACA qualification. The ACA tuition I get as a KPMG graduate is fantastic and the tutors themselves are always very knowledgeable and professional – with many of them having worked for other Big Four firms in the past.

Make the most of the opportunities that are given to you and learn from everything you do.

Day-to-day

One of the best things about my job is that my days are extremely varied. I could be in a different part of the country working with a client, working in Canary Wharf on an internal project or at college studying towards my ACA.

As part of the Technology Risk team you get a really high level of exposure to KPMG clients, spending much of your time working directly with system owners at various organisations. It’s really important to have an effective working relationship with our clients as the quality of your work is directly affected by your ability to get the client talking about their systems in as much depth as possible.

I’ve also found the social side of KPMG to be great and made some really good friends in the short time I’ve been here, particularly through doing the ACA qualification.

My Advice

Make the most of the opportunities that are given to you and learn from everything you do. Your career path can take you whichever way you choose at KPMG. There are opportunities to second into different areas of the business or even different parts of the world, and you’re given the chance to become highly effective in your area of expertise.
